Comparison
Birdray vs Judy Diamond: benefits data versus contractor P&C outbound
Judy Diamond Associates sells prospecting data drawn from Department of Labor Form 5500 filings: which employers sponsor health and retirement plans, who the carrier and broker are, and when plans renew. It is a benefits tool first. Birdray is a property and casualty tool for California contractors, built on the licence record. They compete only when an agency is deciding where to spend a prospecting budget.
Form 5500 filings are public, annual, and cover employers with benefit plans, which skews to larger firms. Contractor licence records are public, weekly, and cover every licensed contractor with or without a plan, which skews small.

Choose Judy Diamond when
- ›You sell group benefits or want the broker of record on an employer's plan
- ›Your targets are mid-market employers in any state
Choose Birdray when
- ✓You sell P&C to California contractors, most of whom never file a 5500
- ✓You want renewal timing and change signals week to week, not once a year
Our verdict
Not really the same purchase. A California P&C agency with a benefits arm may want both: Judy Diamond for the group side, Birdray for the contractor book. A contractor-focused P&C shop gets nothing from a 5500 database it can't get from Birdray.
Frequently asked
- Does Judy Diamond have workers' comp x-dates?
- Its core data is benefits filings. Any P&C x-dates come from other sources, and for California contractors those are the same CSLB records Birdray loads.
- Does Birdray have benefits data?
- Not today. Form 5500 is a public file and is on our roadmap as a way to see headcount and the benefits broker for the larger contractors.
